Page 1 Ranks With Auction/Expired Domains and Zero Link Building

Ok, this is a follow up to my Watch Me Build And Flip Two Amazon Affiliate Websites For $XX,XXX post. It’s been a couple months, but I took a lot more project since then so you’ll have to forgive me on that one. Anyway, I’ve decided that instead of going with a part 1, part 2, etc on that article I’ll just keep these as separate blog posts and put it all together in the end in a single post when the first site is sold. The reason for this is that I actually started working on more than just those two affiliate sites and will have plenty more to write about.

So, what’s going on?

Well, first and foremost, I came to the conclusion that low competition keywords combined with an auction domain is by far the best and easiest way to get ranking. While it did take two to three weeks for the site to start showing up in SERPs, once it did, things only improved with time. Take a look at the current ranks:

These are the ranks for the Kitchen site mentioned in the previous article.

Now, I know that most of those monthly searches are low. But, the product price justifies them, and you have to admit that this is pretty impressive! Currently only getting a dozen hits per day on that site, so further on-page optimization is probably necessary – or a couple links per post should get these much closer to #1 regardless. The results above are from only 9 posted articles and a total of like 12,000 words of content.

Anyway, will add affiliate links to this site soon and hopefully start getting some sales from it. We also go 30 more articles saved as drafts that we are publishing one by one – so a lot more decent ranks to follow.

Only one keyword is ranking after page 2. And, again, this is with zero links built! The only investment here was the auction domain and content. Got a couple of on-page tricks but nothing too special really.

I took my time before writing a follow up since, as you can see, those ranks have been going up for quite a while now. The initial positions the keywords appeared on weren’t an indicator of how far they would go. This wasn’t the case with the tech website though, for which the few keywords we targeted stayed on pages 5 and 6. I assume it’s because that domain was a lot weaker, so it naturally wouldn’t have the power this one does.

But, there’s more…

I have more exciting, and rather conflicting news to share! Another website we built is ranking #1 for a “review” keyword with 0 links built and an expired domain with 0 Referring Domains! Here it is:

The ranks for an Outdoors site we built.

This is an outdoors site we built and left, only to see it ranking a couple months later. It’s currently getting about 30 hits per day and we just added affiliate links in. This was rather surprising, since while this was also an expired domain, it had 0 Referring Domains! The only reason we got it was because it was brandable, but nothing special at all in terms of metrics.

While the results with the Kitchen auction domain were expected, this one was rather shocking, in a good way. Adding 12 articles up on this one soon as well, so things should be getting a lot more interesting.
